Why Volunteer
Benefits of Volunteering
- Provide a vital service to your community
- Help frail and isolated seniors
- Meet new people and make new friends
Our volunteers are key to the success of a range of programs from friendly visiting to fundraising. Their caring and sharing help seniors, adults with disabilities, and the chronically ill to live at home and maintain as independent of a lifestyle as possible.
Younger volunteers learn transferable skills and gain work experience as a volunteer to supplement their resume when searching for a job. We also offer placement positions for students.
TransCare is committed to excellence in serving all customers, including people with disabilities. Accessible customer service is not only about the physical accessibility of the building and environment. It’s also about understanding that people with disabilities may have different needs and how you may address these needs.
The training below will provide detail information about the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and tips for accessible customer service, as provided by the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services.
If you have any questions, please call Sylvia Bergmann at (416)750-9885, ext.273 or email [email protected].
